Assistant Coordinator for KESHO
Starting salary Ksh25,000pcm

We are seeking a full-time Assistant Coordinator to support the work of KESHO. Kesho is a CBO promoting educational opportunities for children from Kilifi District. It has been operating for five years and experiencing continuous growth. Currently 180 students are sponsored across all levels of the education system.

The Assistant Coordinator will have a BSc/BA or HND (or a Part II diploma if with sufficient relevant experience). He/she must have an open personality, be highly motivated, organized, willing to take on new challenges and fully supportive of the aims of KESHO. S/he will have a natural ability to give academic guidance, counselling and motivation to the students supported by the programme. S/he will be responsible for setting up and managing the student resource centre and for encouraging peer support among students.

Specifically s/he will be supporting the work of the Project Coordinator and be willing to assist in a broad range of duties as required. For example, the secretarial requirements of the organisation, filing, maintaining the project database, monitoring the academic progress of students, organizing sponsor mail-shots and helping with events and open days. Word processing and database management skills will be a distinct advantage. S/he must be willing to use public transport to visit schools and homes occasionally. Ideally the person will be familiar with the local area, sensitive to its culture and fluent in a local language and English.

The post holder will have a probationary period of 6 months and an initial contract renewable after one year depending on funding and performance. S/he will be responsible to the KESHO committee.
